Acupuncture is a therapeutic modality used to encourage natural healing in the body.  The technique involves inserting very thin, stainless steel needles into specific points on the body to stimulate the nervous system.  This triggers the release of certain chemicals which can alter the experience of pain or stimulate the body’s natural healing process. The therapist will use sterile single-use disposable needles so there is no risk of infection.

At Peak Mobile Physio, your therapist has completed the Level 1 Medical Acupuncture Program at McMaster University.  This program uses the most current scientific evidence to justify point selection and treatment parameters.

Acupuncture is often associated with pain control but it can be used in conjunction with other techniques to treat a wide range of conditions.  These conditions include:

  • Muscle tension
  • Headaches
  • Neck and back pain
  • Knee pain
  • Shoulder pain
  • Sprains
  • Tennis elbow
  • Sciatica
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome and more
